The Frequently Asked Questions below cover many of the questions clients ask me before starting therapy. If you have additional questions, please email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
What will therapy be like?
Together we will explore the attachments and heartbreaks you have experienced throughout your life, especially with the people with whom your stories interweave. Many times these stories are at the heart of who we are. We will discover how these stories affect you and your relationships, keeping you from living in the present moment. You will learn to detach from these stories and regulate the overwhelm and vulnerability that keeps you and your relationships living in the past. You will find your way back to your true-self and this in return will help you connect with your loved ones, find meaning in your experiences, and deepen intimacy into your relationships.
Who do you work with?
I work with individuals, couples and families. My specialty is in helping couples reconnect and communicate in loving ways. I love helping long term couples discover the amazing love that comes from deeper intimacy.
I also provide:
- Premarital Counseling
- Discernment Counseling (when one or both of you might be considering divorce)
- Marriage Counseling (heal betrayal, improve communication & deepen intimacy)
- Relationship Therapy for One (when your partner won’t join you)
- Individuals Struggling in Relationships (with self and others)
- Counseling for Postpartum Well-Being (for moms, dads & couples together when one or both of you are struggling with postpartum mood and anxiety disorders)
- Education and Counseling regarding Healthy Relationships & Sexuality
What are your sessions fees?
- Initial phone consult (15-minutes) —FREE—
- Individual, Couples or Family Therapy (50-minute sessions) —$125—
- Individual, Couples or Family Therapy (90-minute sessions) —$175—
As we enter into our work together we will outline session length, frequency and rates specific to our work together. Individual sessions are generally 50-minutes in length, couples and families often prefer to book 90-minute sessions. Add on services such as phone consults over 10-minutes and lengthier sessions are pro-rated. There is no difference in fee for seeing me as an individual, couple or family. A limited number of sliding scale rates are available.
When is payment due?
The full fee for your session is collected at or before the time of service via cash, credit card, debit card or check. We can also securely record a debit or credit card so you will not have to take time for payment during your session. I do not bill for services, or carry account balances.
What are the payment options?
I accept cash, check, debit, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express.
Do you work with insurance?
I am on some insurance panels and I am also an out-of-network provider. If you have mental health insurance benefits you may be eligible to submit a claim for reimbursement of out-of-network services. Please be advise that many insurance panels only cover for 45 minute sessions and might not cover marriage or family therapy. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider and ask about your individual plan coverage. You can contact them either online or via the member services number located on the back of your insurance card, to ask questions about your plan so that you can make an informed decision before beginning therapy.
What’s your policy around cancellations and rescheduling?
I request that you cancel or reschedule your appointments 24-hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours. Please note that your insurance will not reimburse payment for missed meetings or late cancellations. If there is no way to avoid canceling prior to that 24 hour period, your meeting can be rescheduled when we are both able to accommodate an alternate appointment time within a reasonable time frame. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.
No Show Charge (no notification of cancellation) —full session fee—
Cancellation in less than 24 hours (except in cases of emergency, personal or family crisis) —full session fee—
